Like any woman, Naledi feels she will live in the shadow of a former lover, who would’ve made it to the aisle had her life not ended. In the previous book, Qhawe had made a strong connection to Oleta, whose life ended abruptly and Qhawe didn’t quite recover. They meet with Qhawe, over a parking spot and as they say, the rest is history. Naledi is a Tshwana Princess, her father the village chief. We’ve read about Mqhele’s Hlomu (who was the first wife and a very impactful figure in the lives of the Zulu brothers), Nkosana’s Zandile (with an unreal kind of beauty, inner strenghth and stubborn), the last is about Naledi, Qhawe’s queen. And read it in three days! It was somewhat of a sad read because of the realisation that it was the last of the books and Dudu, if you are reading this, it’s a NATIONAL CALL – you have got to write more books! We need a book on how the Zulu brothers see things, we need more. It wasn’t my turn yet but I couldn’t resist the temptation to take it and read it. If their stories seldom rise above cliché, they are also examples of the fact that things become clichés for a reason, that they are are generally based on some kind of truth, especially in rock ’n’ roll. New autobiographies by two of the women who were in perpetual rotation during MTV’s first few years are a study in the divergent paths that could lead to rock stardom during the Reagan years.īenatar and Belinda Carlisle, lead singer of the Go-Go’s, are such perfect mirror images it’s almost cartoonish: New York versus Los Angeles, musical theater versus punk, eyes-on-the-prize ambition versus cocaine-driven excess. The love story is beautiful, but there are so many themes that make The Heart Principle the masterpiece it is. ![]() One of my favorite moments from this book is when Quan tells Anna 'Just because something isn’t perfect doesn’t mean we need to throw it away.' The way these two characters come together is perfect despite all their 'imperfections.' Their first date ends with Anna hiding out in the bathroom, but the beauty of their relationship is when one falters the other picks up the slack. His confidence took a hit when he lost his health and although he has recovered, he feels like half a man. Only now he’s no longer that same happy-go-lucky guy. ![]() However, his action sparks something in her and she signs up for a dating app in the hopes of a one-night stand where she meets Quan, the loyal, happy-go-lucky, shaved, heavily tattooed secondary character who stole everyone’s heart from The Kiss Quotient and The Bride Test. ![]() |
